Our Epic Gives Back program is a key element of our work culture, and we strive to give back to the community as much as we can. Seeing that National Volunteer Week, which takes place April 12-18 this year, is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to go out and engage others in their community, we are recognizing all our volunteer’s efforts the past year.
2014 was a busy and fulfilling time for Epic Gives Back. Last April we hosted a dinner at the Ronald McDonald Charity House for the families of patients staying at the Rady’s Children Hospital. Dinner was provided as well as arts and crafts to encourage the families to enjoy their night and relax. This year, we will be doing it again!
Have you heard of the Movember Foundation? Their goal is to improve the lives of men living with prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental problems. Last November, we held our annual Movember party at Rock Bottom Brewery. 15% of the money spent was donated to the Movember foundation. Go team Epic Staches!
As a company that works on developing tests to characterize circulating tumor cells, it would only make sense that we are huge advocates of cancer awareness. In November 2014, we partook in the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk with a cheer both set up for all the contestants. Don’t forget the cold beverages!
Epic Gives Back also held a teddy bear drive last December, which we will be doing again this year, to collect and donate to the Rady’s Children Hospital.
We are proud to have such an amazing group of volunteers making up Epic Gives Back. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we have accomplished.
Thank you for a great 2014!
